Stop met kerkstichting. Stop met het bouwen van een gemeente met in je achterhoofd een mooi ontwerp of erger nog met een plan op papier waarin je de uiteindelijke vorm voor ogen hebt. Dat is zo verleden tijd. Dat is zo church-shaped mission. Begin met kerkplanting. Planten, dat is zaaien of stekken en niet weten hoe de plant er uiteindelijk uit gaat zien. Dat is mission-shaped church.

Dat is wat de Anglicaanse kerk (iets voorzichtiger) schrijft in Mission-Shaped Church:
The response shapes the form of Christian community. It is more like a process of discerning the prior action of God. As such it is an outcome of the instinct that Ecclesiology is a subsection of the doctrine of mission. Planning for predetermined outcomes is legitimate but no longer primary. A mission-informed response, rather than a structural initiative, is now seen as authentic. Much that now happens is ad hoc and not officially planned – it is ‘pre-official’.
